We needed to replace a faucet in a secondary kitchen downstairs, so decided to move our perfectly good (but non-touch) Grohe there and bought the Delta touch for the main kitchen. I read a lot of reviews - many positive and a few negative, along the lines of confusing and hard to figure out whether it's on "touch" or not. In use, I find it absolutely intuitive - you don't have to figure it out - you just do what you think you would do. It is so much more convenient than I'd anticipated. i never knew how nice it would be just to touch the faucet on or off, and how much I would use it!
June 23, 2011: Ok, this thing is really pretty cool. I actually look forward to going over to use the sink for any reason. Best thing is how the sensor knows when you're in contact with the metal surface for a longer duration -- say, when adjusting the water flow rate or temperature mix at the handle -- and it doesn't toggle the flow off (or on). It only toggles the flow when you quickly tap a metal area on the faucet or handle. One minor complaint: the base of the faucet, where it comes in contact with the sink surface, should be about 1/4" larger in diameter, for a more sturdy, stable contact point. That long goose-neck faucet gives you a lot of leverage at the endpoint (where you manipulate the spray nozzle), and it seems like you could easily torque out a bend in the sink surface if you're not careful. So we'll be careful. Oh, and the Mrs. likes it! Or maybe she just likes the fact that I like it so much...
June 14, 2011: The Installation. To be perfectly upfront, I'm a guy who happens to be very good at around-the-house handyman jobs. Toilets, shelving, electric work, plumbing, IKEA stuff, from-scratch mountain bike assembly, etc. I'm no candidate for This Old House, perhaps, but I'm pretty competent. So I say with all honesty that this was one of the toughest jobs I'd ever undertaken. And we all know the reason: under-the-kitchen-sink work is some of the most difficult, awkward, frustrating work you can tackle. Especially for just one person. So it's not really Delta's fault, though I'm not inclined to give high marks to the included instructions, and one minor part was missing from one of the bags of parts provided. I did call Delta support to ask about the missing part and the staff person was very friendly and helpful, though we decided not to get a replacement part because it was non-essential. Anyway, after 5 hours (including the time it took to remove the old faucet hardware) I had it all working very nicely. It's a surprise for the wife, so we'll see how that goes tonight. We'll use it for awhile and I'll report back with additional info.
